“The Fairytale Bird” 2010 project was an experiment. In 2009 I got my longarm quilting machine and was willing to make whole cloth quilt. It was quilted totally free hand and then painted with fabric paints.
This quilt introduces a traditional Russian design, “Khokhloma“, which often incorporates vivid poetic imagery into large floral elements. It is quilted and painted in traditional colors of gold, black, red.
